SAN FRANCISCO "ADIDAS" DISTANCE CARNIVAL

For those Warriors who didn't make it into the highly competitive Cal/Neva Meet, five will be running at the second annual San Francisco State Distance Carnival, hosted by the sport corporation of running Adidas, and Gu. This should be a very high profile meet, as most distance runners in Northern California who didn't qualify for the Stanford Elite Invite meet will be there. Adidas is providing pacers for D-1 Provisionals in the 5k and 10k, so those races will be incredibly fast.
For the men, Shane "Redneck" Brookshire will be running in the blazin' 5k, hoping to break his pr of 15:35. Dawson Vorderbruegge will be running his first race in a month, just coming off heel bruises in the steeple. He'll be competing in the 1500, planning to go sub 4:05 and get back into racing mode. Also in the 1500, post-Warrior Jose Morales is looking to set his all-time pr. Jose is hungry after coming off a close second place finish in the Henry's March 5k last weekend. Jose was 5 seconds behind 2008 Olympic Trial qualifier Miguel Nuci, running a 15:25 in extremely cold and blistery conditions. By the way, Miguel runs for Adidas.
Terrance "Non-Affiliated" Ellis will be running the 800, riding the sub-2 train, and then catching the D-train back to Turlock to win that evening's CSUS Talent Show. Good luck Terrance, and if you must do well at only one thing on Friday, let it be the Talent Show, because you could use the $300 more than a good time in SF.
Clarissa "Taxi Driver" Rivera will be running for the women, lacing up her spikes in the 1500. She's looking to do some dangerous things this season, and this could prove to be her breakout race. Two weeks ago she set a big pr at Davis in the 5k, and people better watch out for this gal.
Cal Nevada Track "Championship"? Preview
Alright folks, it's show time for the Warrior Distance squad as they'll be heading to UCLA this weekend to compete at the Cal/Nevada Track Championship Meet (even though I don't know who crowns you "champion" and I'm not even sure if any schools from Nevada will be there, much less beat anybody.)
Headlining the Distance women will be the Half Mile Heroes, April, Rubye, and Marissa. These gals are looking to post some huge pr's, and secure spots at nationals later in the year. Also for the women, Denali (Yukon) Foldager will be running her sophomore steeple, her first after heel-busting opener at Chico 4 weeks ago. In attendance at the meet will be Flip and Patty Foldager, all the way from the Frozen Frontier they traveled to sunny So-Cal to see their little babes lace em up. All you Warrior lovers, look out for Flip, he can get pretty enthusiastic during the race, maybe we can learn a few lessons in Warrior pride from this cheery fella!
For the He-Men, there will be plenty of Afternoon Delight taking place at UCLA.
What's that, do you hear it...wait a minute...it's the...no it couldn't be...yes it is....the sub-train series!
Junior Joey Nunes will be boarding the sub-15 train in his 5k race (look out for the chugga-chugga fist pump on lap 11.5) As well, he'll be looking to dispose of a nasty bit of b.o. he has encountered during these types of races.
Eric "Silent Ninja" Gutierrez will be conducting the Sunday afternoon transfer onto the sub-4 train in the 1500, going after a big pr and a high ranking in the CCAA.
Palmer "Feed me the Rock" Thiele will also be rolling on the sub-10 train in his sophomore steeple. Look out ladies, his long legs, flowing locks, and immaculate hurdle form have been known to seduce a lady or two, or ten...
Senor Marteen Rahmos will be punching his ticket to nationals on the sub-9:24 train in the 3k steeplechase. Sorry ladies, he belongs to Patty.
Overall, it should be an impressive meet with tons of great competition, excellent conditions, and loud crowds (thanks Foldagers!)

Stan State/Al Brenda HS Track Meet
This weekend was an off weekend from competition for the Warriors, but not a day off the track. CSUS Track hosted the Stanislaus/Al Brenda HS Track meet at MJC. There was plenty of fun to be had organizing a nice little high school meet like this, and every Warrior took part in keeping the meet running smoothly and on time.
There were some exceptional performances on the day, and some slight recruiting going on. Hopefully some future Warriors saw the gloriousness of the CSUS Track program and took it to heart in their search for collegiate greatness. Thanks to all who helped and all who competed. We'll see you next year at our NEW home track (to be completed Dec. 2008)
